Linha de Fuga
Linha de Fuga means vanishing line - the point in perspective where parallel lines converge and disappear. It is also, in the philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari, a line of flight: a movement away from structure, toward something not yet defined. For a performative arts festival, it is exactly the right name. It is also a complicated brief.
The challenge was not just building a website. It was finding a fixed digital form for something that, by its nature, resists fixity. Performance is live, ephemeral, relational. A festival exists in time, in a body in a room, in the presence of an audience. The site had to hold that tension: to document and organise without domesticating.
We started with strategy. Linha de Fuga is not a single event but a layered organism — festival, laboratory, residencies, critical conversations, workshops, archive. Each strand has its own logic, its own audience, its own rhythm. Before anything was designed, we needed to understand how these parts related to each other and what someone coming to the site actually needed to find. The navigation had to be honest about that complexity without making it feel like a burden.
The design followed from that clarity. Rather than imposing a conventional institutional structure — a clean header, a tidy grid — we looked for an approach that reflected the energy of the work itself. The homepage moves. The archive accumulates. The site feels like something that is still happening, not something that has been filed away.
